Today our friends were here and we had a chance to show off the town we live in despite the fact that we still don't know that much about it. Thankfully, they are good-hearted friends who trustingly let Alex direct them through the streets (and patiently put up with my complaints and hatred for being outside in the middle of the day (a vampire?)).
I'm sure much will be added to our knowledge of Viterbo along the way, but here is a good place to jump in. This is one of Alex's favorite features: the towers. Today there are only 40 towers left, but at one point there were 197. Initially, their purpose was defensive, but they lost that purpose and became homes and today, more of a status symbol. This one, the Tower of Borgognone, is actually a B&B now!
Across the way from this tower is the Church of St. Sylvester which was built in 1080. Again, this is the quick tour. I have not collected any worthy stories yet...
